Preserving the past

Built between 1940 and 1947, the 35-storey, 161-meter-high building was designed in 1939 by Plínio Botelho do Amaral and built by Camargo & Mesquita, a company that took eight years to inaugurate on June 27, 1947. In 1960, it was renamed as Altino Arantes building, in honor of Banespa's first president between 1926 and 1930. Over the years, its façade underwent few changes, including new lighting. In 1990, the building was declared a listed building with the aim of preserving the cultural memory and history of the building, avoiding future renovations that could alter the original characteristics of it's architecture.

Illuminating the present

After acquiring the building, Santander transformed it into a center for culture, tourism, leisure and gastronomy, bringing creative ways of relating to people and spaces. The restoration of the Farol Santander went beyond the walls and the stories behind the lives of the people who lived there. The revitalization of the space also came through art, with contemplative, immersive and biographical exhibitions by brazilian and international artists and personalities.

Transforming the future

The aim is to sensitize visitors through art and provoke reflection on new realities. From Farol Santander's highest point, you can see the beauty of our surroundings. From Bar do Cofre in the basement to the 31st floor kitchen, every floor has cultural, educational or recreational activities, making this an experience not to be missed. Check our schedule to see what is on and get your ticket to come and visit us.
